Address: 3102 OLD POST ROAD /1985QUADRUPLE BYPASS. 9/1992 had emergency removal of ruptured spleen in Portsmouth, OH after 5 days in former East German Hospital. Attended Triadelphia High School in Wheeling, WV. In 1949 picked as All-City football player. The team was undefeated for the second year in a r ow. 1950 graduated from THS and went to West Virginia University in the fall. 1954 Graduated at WVU with BS in Bus Ad.. Sept 1954 was a 2nd Lt in US Army at Ft Benning Infantry School. Also went thru Heavy Mortar School and sent t o Germany for a tour of duty. Assigned to the Heavy Mortar Company, 47th Infa ntry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, Ulm, Germany. Alice had concurrent trav el to Germany. In March 1956 the oldest son, William Carl was born in Augsbur g, Germany. We lived in Neu Ulm and Jerry worked out of the base across the r iver in Ulm. Aug 1956 separated from active duty and came home to Wheeling, W V. Started to work for Ohio Power Co as a Coml Rep on 1 Oct 1956, in Zanesvil le, OH. Transferred to MT Vernon, OH 1 Jun 1960. After several years of bein g active in several Army Reserve units, came back into the Reserves as a Capt & C. O. of the Reserve Company in MT Vernon. The Reserve unit was disbanded with most other units in 1968. Transferred to Canton General Office in 1977. Transferred to Canton Division office in 1978 as Supervisor of Marketing and Customer Service. Transferred to Portsmouth, OH on 1 Aug 1985 as Mktg & Cust Serve Mang of the Portsmouth Division. During the 10 year period that the Com pany had marketing goals, my Division was first in the company 8 years, 4 in C anton and 4 in Portsmouth. Retired from Ohio Power/AEP in Aug 1993. Became v ery active in Portsmouth Sister City and became President of the Organization in 1990. We have had many trips to Germany, UK and Mexico. Every where we go we receive wonderful hospitality. "A Little Bit of Me" was published in 1983 ."Don't weep for me when I am gone, Don't sit around and sigh. Don't pass my b ier and shed a tear and ask the reason why. Just try to think of just one thin g I did while here below that made the world a better place, then I'll be glad to go."
