• Notes

Family tradition says that three brothers (one with a wife) and two sisters (both with husbands) children of this Joseph and Mary, immigrated from Scotland in the early 1700's. The three brothers were Thomas, Robert and Joseph. A cousin, Alexander, may have been with them or joined them later. Alexander settled in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Anyway, they can be documented as of the 1740's in New Jersey. Thomas settled in Somerset County, New Jersey while Joseph and Robert settled in Sussex County, New Jersey.
